Welcome to South Side Baptist Church.

South Side is a family of believers in Jesus Christ that seeks to glorify God by making disciples in Abilene and the world as we live out the love of Jesus in a community of faith. We are led by a plurality of spiritually qualified elders, preach verse by verse through Scripture, sing Gospel-centered songs, and are serious about the Great Commission. We hope you'll visit!

What to Expect

Parking

Our main parking lot is located on the back side of our church.

Arrival Time

Bible Study starts at 9:00am and our Worship Service is at 10:45am. We recommend showing up about 15 minutes early!

What to Wear

Clothing, please! South Side has a wide variety of people who dress differently.

Music Style

Our aim is to sing songs rich with the Gospel. We sing some that are new and some that are old. Overall, we have a more contemporary feel.

Preaching Style

Our primary method of preaching is verse by verse through books of the Bible. The point of the sermon will be the point of the passage before us that particular morning. We believe this is of utmost importance since God promises to work through His Word.

Meet Our Leadership

Children

We believe that each member of God’s family has a unique and God-given role to fulfill in glorifying God. Our Children’s Ministry strives to assist parents in teaching their children about their special place in God’s family by teaching basic biblical principles to exemplify God’s Word. In this respect, each volunteer, staff member and teacher is to be a living testimony that God has graced His children with the ability to learn about His creation and His goodness.

Students

The goal of the student ministry of South Side Baptist church is to glorify Jesus Christ specifically through 6th-12th grade students and their families. We will seek to accomplish this by equipping parents to disciple their students and engaging students with the Word of God each week. We long to see students and their families trust Jesus and follow after him in lifelong obedience to his commands. Below are the typical events that take place within the life of our church that are specifically intended to accomplish these goals.

The College Student Ministry (CSM) of SSBC exists to reach, disciple, and send college-age adults in Abilene through: intentional discipleship; expositional teaching; becoming a family; and serving others.

We want to provide opportunities for our members to grow in their walk with Christ through discipleship, time in the Word, and fellowship. Whether it is through home groups, Sunday morning bible studies, or other ministries, we hope you'll find a place to get plugged in!

D-Groups

Discipleship is simply helping other follow Jesus. We help others go from where they are to where Jesus wants them, which is increasingly submitting every area of our lives to his gracious Lordship. We encourage all of our members to find or form a D Group to be a part of.
